Have you disappeared from Google?

There have been a few occasions when even we have disappeared from Google, if this happens we suggest you:

1. Make Google revisit your blog often. Update your blog often.

(If that is not possible then go for the 2nd point)

2. Add your URL to Google once in 1 month at least. Use Submit URL to Google

3. Follow Search engine optimization. Use Search Engine Optimization for your WordPress and Blogspot Blogs guidelines while you post.

Meetings with Clients

I would always recommend a face to face meeting with new and existing clients especially in a business sector such as website design and development.

The reason for these face to face meetings is to inspire trust and can usually sell your business in a more personal way, people buy people not services!

What is a robots.txt File?

A robots.txt is a file placed on your server to tell the various search engine spiders not to crawl or index certain sections or pages of your site. You can use it to prevent indexing totally, prevent certain areas of your site from being indexes or to issue individual indexing instructions to specific search engines.

The file itself is a simple text file, which can be created in Notepad. It needs to be saved to the root directory of your site, that is the directory where your home page or index page is.

Keep posted where I shall go into robots.txt files in more depth, how, why and when kind of stuff!

Skimming the surface with Google Analytics

So you’re using Google Analytics….what can it do for you?

It gives you an in depth and invaluable way to track your clients trends and visiting statistics it can;

  • Tell you where your client came from
  • How many pages they looked at
  • How long they stayed on that page

And many more…

As a very simplistic usage of Google Analytics, if clients are looking through your website and continually leaving on your pricing page very quickly, you can change that accordingly!

What information can I capture with Evernote?

Practically anything is the answer!…

Here’s just a few….

  • Notes and Research
  • Web Pages
  • Business Cards
  • Snapshots
  • Even Wine Labels

And lots more…

This application is incredible and well worth your attention for both business and personal use, check out more uses at www.evernote.com.

What is Evernote?

Simplistically Evernote allows you to capture information wherever you are using whatever is most convenient at that time, this then makes your notes accessible and searchable at any time.

Everything you put into Evernote is always synchronized across all of your devices so that way, all your memories are available to you wherever you are.

Keep posted where I will delve into the world of Evernote, and share with you how to use it and why it’s different from anything else out there…

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING

Twitter and Chat

Recently we launched ourselves on Twitter and we have quite a few followers now. Having had the experience for myself I believe that people could be using Twitter in Business more to their advantage by changing their narrative slightly. It seems like a never ending barrage of links, where I think interpersonal communication is key.

To this end I think asking questions and getting involved is most important, even if you’re ignored a couple of times at the beginning, it doesn’t matter. Keep asking and commenting on things until you get your response and when that happens you can then start a different type of relationship with your fellow tweeters.

BE YOURSELF- PEOPLE INVEST IN PEOPLE

A Possible Trap

In these uncertain economic times it’s very easy to look at your business model and start lowering your prices. I can understand the method to the madness however it’s will not give you the positives you are looking for. It may increase the  immediate sales in your business but, as this dries up, it can be very damaging to the reputation of your business. If you don’t know your worth and keep changing and lowering your prices, believe me it looks bad to your prospective clients.

CONSISTENCY IS KEY

Get testimonials!!

Would you believe that a very large proportion of business owners do the work and never get a testimonial for that work?!?

Seriously guys, if you have done work for people, get testimonials, they are one of the best ways to get more business. What’s the point in you trying to convey the need for your product/service when your previous customer/client can do that for you?

If you are sitting there right now and you have not got ALL testimonials outstanding, contact your customers/clients and get those reviews!!!
